Paolo Piccardo, born in Genoa (I) in 1968, is an Italian chemist with strong vocations to intercultural activities. He obtained his PhD in Chemical Sciences at University of Genoa in 1997 and became Assistant Professor in Metallurgy in 1999 at the same University. During his researching and teaching activities he became associated researcher at Italian National Council of the Research (CNR), working on topics concerning the design and development of metallic interconnects and stacking of solid oxide fuel cells, and at French National Council for the Scientific Research (CNRS) as an expert in ancient metallurgy. He has been invited several times as a professor on Metallurgy at University of Bordeaux 3 and University of Burgundy with the aim to teach and cooperate on subjects concerning the reactivity of metals at high temperature and the characterization of metallic findings from Cultural Heritage. He organized several schools of specialization on metallurgy and archaeometallurgy.
Paolo Piccardo is a member of national and international committees and scientific societies and associations on energy production materials, modern and ancient metallurgy. Among the several teaching tasks at the University of Genoa, he is actually the person in charge for the courses Lab. of metallurgy, Lab of Chemistry of Materials, Characterization of materials for restoration at the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences of the University of Genoa. He's involved in Science Dissemination activities and member of the Directorate of the international festival X_Science: Cinema between Science and Science Fiction.
